How to drive a Motorhome or RV.Driving a Motorhome is obviously different to driving a car, but this should not put you off enjoying a fantastic vacation. If you can drive a car then you can drive a RV. The standard features that you find in a car are also present in a campervan. However you must be aware of the size, weight and height of the motorhome. When you hire a motorhome you must allow for the size of your vehicle when turning. The front and rear wheels are further apart than on a car, so when making a turn you will need to approach it a little 'wider' so that your rear does not catch the inside of the bend. In a RV it is also important to allow more time to brake, to change lanes, and merge onto a busy highway. Motorhomes take more time to accelerate and to slow down than small vehicles. When reversing: ask someone to stand outside the vehicle to make sure the driver avoids any obstacles not seen in the mirrors. If another person is not available, the driver should inspect the area behind the vehicle. Doing so can prevent surprises and accidents. You do not need a special license to drive or tow the motorhomes, campers, campervans or RV's that you can hire through International Motorhome Hire. Hire a Motorhome and drive in Europe, rental pick up points are in France, Spain, Germany, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. Further afield in America, Canada, South Africa, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and Tasmania. Before choosing which model, read the full detailed spec of each motorhome and make sure the features of the RV's cater for all your needs on your touring holiday. |
